Masala Moong Dal Recipe

Masala Moong Dal Recipe Ingredients:

  • Two and half cups dried yellow split peas,

  • Two-three cups water,

  • Half tbsp grated fresh ginger paste,

  • One tbsp diced jalapeno chile pepper,

  • Half cup sliced tomatoes,

  • Two-three tbsps lemon juice,

  • Half tbsp grounded turmeric,

  • Two-three tbsp vegetable oil,

  • One tbsp cumin seed,

  • Half dried red chile pepper,

  • One pinch asafoetida,

  • Two-three cloves finely chopped garlic,

  • Half cup chopped fresh cilantro and

  • Salt as per taste
  • How To Make Masala Moong Dal:

  • Rinsing the split peas,soak in two-three cups water for about half an hour.

  • Cook split peas in water,adding salt,until it starts to boil.

  • Reducing heat to medium,cook 15 to 20 minutes,until it becomes tender and thick.If necessary,add more water to prevent from drying out.

  • Now add ginger,jalapeno pepper,tomato,lemon juice and turmeric to the cooked split peas.

  • Heating oil in a small saucepan,add cumin seed and red chile pepper.

  • As soon as pepper is heated,add asafoetida and garlic to it.

  • Adding the above mixture to split peas,stir it well.

  • Finally add cilantro and mix thoroughly well.
